About Featured Expert: Mensor

Mensor are longtime global industry experts in precision pressure measurement, pressure control, calibration systems and metrology. The company designs, develops and manufactures high-accuracy instruments used to generate, measure and control pressure across calibration laboratories, production environments, aerospace systems, and automotive and industrial testing applications. Mensor’s product portfolio includes pressure controllers and calibrators, precision pressure transducers, digital pressure gauges and indicators, primary standards, air-data test systems and custom-engineered calibration platforms.

At the center of the portfolio are automated pressure controllers that combine an internal pressure source or regulated supply with high-accuracy measurement and control. These systems can establish and maintain defined pressure setpoints for the calibration or testing of sensors, transmitters, gauges and other pressure instruments. Depending on the selected model, Mensor controllers can support multiple ranges, removable reference transducers, pneumatic or hydraulic media, automated test sequences and integration into larger laboratory or production systems.

Multiple internal sensors can be selected to maintain suitable uncertainty and performance across a wider span, while replaceable modules allow reference ranges to be changed or serviced without replacing the complete controller. Remote communications, digital I/O and rack-mounting options further allow the instruments to be incorporated into automated calibration benches and production-test architectures.

Mensor’s precision transducer, gauge and indicator portfolio supports the measurement side of the calibration chain. These devices can be used as laboratory references, transfer standards, portable verification instruments or embedded elements within custom systems. Specific product configurations are offered to address gauge, absolute and differential-pressure measurement requirements, together with different media, ranges, output formats and accuracy requirements.

Primary standards and deadweight testers provide a direct link between applied force, piston area and generated pressure. These instruments remain important within pressure metrology because they establish pressure through a measurement principle traceable to SI units. Mensor and the wider WIKA calibration portfolio support both laboratory and industrial deadweight-testing applications, including pneumatic and hydraulic pressure generation. The company also offers a range of air-data test systems and application-specific pressure-control platforms for aerospace and avionics environments. These systems can generate and control the pressure conditions associated with altitude, airspeed and related flight parameters, supporting the testing and calibration of aircraft instruments, sensors and air-data systems.

Calibration services form another important part of Mensor’s operating model. Its San Marcos, Texas, laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 through A2LA and supports calibration, adjustment and repair for Mensor instruments as well as other pressure devices within its accredited scope. Calibration documentation can include traceability, measurement uncertainty, and as-found and as-left data according to the service required.

Typical applications for Mensor products include calibration laboratories, sensor and transmitter production, aerospace and avionics testing, automotive development, pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing, energy and utility operations, oil and gas, research laboratories and other environments where pressure measurement accuracy, control stability and traceability are critical.

Founded in 1969, Mensor began by developing high-accuracy pressure instrumentation for the aerospace industry. The company is based in San Marcos, Texas, and has operated as part of the WIKA Group since 2006. To learn more about Mensor and its pressure calibration technologies, please click here
