Avnet (Nasdaq: AVT) has recently announced that Rebeca Obregon has been named as the new president of Newark, an Avnet company, effective July 1, 2024.
Newark is a high-service electronics components distributor with a comprehensive portfolio of products and supported by an international supply chain.
Of this appointment, Avnet CEO Phil Gallagher noted, “Since joining Avnet’s leadership team last year, Rebeca has shown her deep commitment to delivering results for our suppliers, customers, partners, and employees. Prior to her recent promotion, Ms. Obregon was previously senior vice president of Strategic Business Engagements and Supplier Management. In that role, she led Avnet’s United, Velocity and Integrated business units, IP&E (interconnect, passive and electromechanical) supplier management and strategy, mergers and acquisitions.

Ms. Obregon has more than 30 years of semiconductor industry experience, where she has served in a progressive series of leadership roles, building and growing teams and businesses from their inception into profitable, recognized worldwide market leaders. Before joining Avnet in 2023, she served as the corporate vice president of Amkor Technology. She holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Arizona State University, as well as a master of science in electrical engineering from the National Technological University.
