Hexagon has announced its acquisition of the Geomagic software suite from 3D Systems. This acquisition strengthens Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence’s software portfolio by adding advanced 3D modeling and inspection tools.
The suite includes Design X, Control X, Freeform, and Wrap, software designed to process 3D scan data, create digital models, and enhance CAD workflows.

Geomagic software tools are known for automating the transformation of 3D scan data into parametric CAD models, facilitating workflows from free-form design to precise quality inspections. These tools are valuable across various applications, including manufacturing, product development, and quality control.

Financial and Operational Details

Hexagon will acquire Geomagic for $123 million on a cash and debt-free basis. In 2023, Geomagic generated $30 million in revenue and employed approximately 100 people. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and customary conditions.
