measX has released version 8.6 of its X-Crash ATD software, which evaluates tests for the certification of crash test dummies. This latest version includes a new evaluation package for the advanced Pedestrian Legform Impactor (aPLI), based on the ISO/TS 20458:2023 standard. The aPLI test specimen simulates the human leg and is used in pedestrian protection testing.

In addition to the new aPLI evaluation, version 8.6 includes updates to align with further developed standards and norms. X-Crash ATD supports test specimens and dummies in accordance with European and international regulations. The software is used in passive vehicle safety testing to certify crash test dummies and assess standard-compliant test data.
Version 8.6 of the related X-Crash software, used for broader passive safety test evaluation, was released in December 2024. With this new release, both software platforms now return to the same version number.
“It is important for us to accompany the entire process of vehicle safety testing with our evaluations. New evaluations continue to be recorded, particularly in the area of active safety, and we are therefore challenged with the further development of X-Zero. But there is also a lot happening in the area of passive safety, especially in pedestrian protection. Our work consists not only of adapting and maintaining existing evaluations, but we are also tackling completely new topics.”, says Klaas Ebel, Head of Vehicle Safety at measX.
Version 8.6 has already been distributed to measX customers with maintenance contracts. Release notes with additional enhancements and adjustments are available through the company.
