NeoCortec Partners with DigiKey
The Copenhagen, Denmark-based manufacturer NeoCortec has announced its recent global distribution agreement with DigiKey for the worldwide sale and distribution of its ultra-low-power bi-directional wireless mesh network modules for a variety of applications.
Most of the time the nodes are asleep with their radio turned off. However, at scheduled intervals the radios wake up to listen for messages and to send messages if required, before going back to sleep again. This approach results in an average power consumption of typically only a few 10s of micro amperes, enabling battery powered operation on a single set of two AA batteries for several years. The unique NeoCortec protocol stack is offered for both 2.4GHz as well as sub GHz frequency bands, delivered in a series of pre-approved modules as well as a license to selected SoCs.
NeoCortec’s NeoMesh wireless network modules utilize a decentralized mesh of autonomous nodes, eliminating the need for reliance on a network coordinator. With the ability to seamlessly integrate a vast number of nodes into a single network, even the largest structures can be covered without the need for additional infrastructure.
In addition, NeoMesh employs precise time-synchronization between the nodes, optimizing power usage by allowing nodes to sleep or engage until needed. While most nodes remain dormant with their radios off, they periodically awaken at scheduled intervals to send and receive messages. This efficient approach ensures an average power consumption of just a few tens of microamperes, enabling extended battery life on a standard pair of AA batteries for multiple years.
Additionally, NeoCortec offers its proprietary protocol stack for both 2.4GHz and sub-GHz frequency bands, available in pre-approved modules and licensable for selected SoCs. Each NeoCortec module features a compact footprint of 11x18x2.6mm, ensuring seamless integration without requiring alterations to accommodate various frequency bands.
Of the new partnership, Cato Skibsted Fagermo, Business Development Manager at NeoCortec, noted, “DigiKey is a perfect new distribution partner for us, as in addition to having the world’s largest selection of in-stock electronic components they offer a broad range of digital solutions and tools to design engineers. We are convinced they will do well in promoting our NeoMesh wireless mesh network modules together with NeoCortec’s protocol stack with their huge customer base.”
Added Pat Sagsveen, Senior Product Manager at DigiKey, “NeoCortec’s unique and very interesting NeoMesh product portfolio is filling a gap in our linecard and we are looking forward to promoting their great products with our customers in the years to come.”
Typical applications for NeoCortec ultra-low-power bi-directional wireless mesh network modules are based on IoT and Cloud-based sensor networks, including those found within smart building and smart workplace, metering, security, agriculture, transportation, industry 4.0, medical and food distribution applications.
