Sensata Technologies has introduced the 129CP Series, a Digital Water Pressure Sensor designed to integrate directly into a water meter’s PCB. This sensor provides reliable, smart pressure monitoring for water utilities at a reduced weight.
Water utilities face ongoing challenges managing extensive infrastructure. A significant portion of water is lost due to leakage, meter inaccuracies, and unauthorized consumption. According to the International Water Association, 30 percent of water produced worldwide is wasted.
Sensata’s new sensor design improves water metering efficiency and reliability. It combines precision pressure monitoring technology with digital communication, enabling water meters to provide more detailed insights into water usage.
The compact sensor can monitor pressure ranges from 0 to 232 psi. Its rugged construction affords the end-user sensors that can continue to survive for 10 to 15 years, including in challenging high-moisture and high-shock environments. It integrates directly into a meter’s printed circuit board (PCB) and delivers a digital I2C output, minimizing power consumption for optimized battery life.
Utilities monitoring pressure outputs from the sensor can use the network of pressure sensing data to quickly identify leaks and other issues, minimizing both real losses and non-revenue water cost impacts.
