Integrated Optics, a Lithuania-based manufacturer of ultra-compact laser sources, is using Yokogawa optical spectrum analysis to support product development, spectral validation and production quality control across its visible and near-infrared laser portfolio. The company selected Yokogawa’s AQ6373E optical spectrum analyzer to detect weak spectral modes, and other low-level components close to the primary laser signal, where even small variations in spectral purity can affect measurement accuracy, stability and overall system performance.
Its MatchBox platform includes compact continuous-wave, multi-wavelength and pulsed laser sources for applications including microscopy, spectroscopy, flow cytometry, quantum technologies and LiDAR. Combining optics, control electronics and thermal stabilization within a matchbox-sized enclosure requires precise spectral characterization throughout development and production, particularly when engineers need to distinguish unwanted modes from the dominant emission peak and verify consistent output across different operating conditions.

The AQ6373E covers wavelengths from 350 to 1200 nm, with wavelength resolution down to 0.02 nm and approximately 60 dB of close-in dynamic range. These capabilities allow engineers to resolve weak spectral components near a dominant laser peak while maintaining the measurement sensitivity needed for low optical input levels. Integrated Optics uses the instrument for single-mode laser production, spectral filtering, component characterization, quality inspection and new product development, while its broad wavelength range supports multiple laser configurations on a common measurement platform.
“Yokogawa provides a highly capable, telecom-grade instrument whose performance is exceptionally well suited for laboratory laser measurements,” said Evaldas Pebreza, CEO of Integrated Optics. “We benefit from the reliability expected of telecommunications equipment while also achieving the resolution and sensitivity required to characterise far more demanding laser sources.”
Repeatable spectral measurement is also important to maintaining consistent production quality as the company expands its laser portfolio. Yokogawa’s connectivity options support automated calibration and validation workflows, allowing spectral measurements to be incorporated into broader development and production processes without introducing unnecessary variation between test setups. This gives Integrated Optics a consistent method for identifying weak spectral components, verifying spectral purity and evaluating new laser designs across the wavelength range required for its products.
For applications in medical, scientific, industrial and quantum systems, the combination of wavelength coverage, close-in dynamic range and repeatable measurement performance provides a practical foundation for both production quality control and continued laser development. By using one measurement platform across multiple products and operating modes, Integrated Optics can reduce measurement complexity while maintaining the spectral characterization needed for increasingly demanding laser applications.
